Kristen + Stephen : Asheville, NC

“Storybook romance” doesn’t even begin to describe Kristen and Stephen’s gorgeous fall wedding celebration in Asheville, NC! There are so many reasons we were over the moon excited to be a part of their wedding. It was a weekend filled with unbelievable scenery, immaculate venues, charming details, amazing family and friends, and the sweetest couple you could ever imagine.

The locations alone were worth their weight in gold. First was The Grove Park Inn, where Kristen and Stephen gathered their nearest and dearest for the rehearsal dinner. With gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, magnificent stone architecture, and a classy banquet hall, it was a stunning place for Kristen and Stephen to kick off the festivities. During dinner, friends shared toasts and Stephen’s sisters told hilarious stories from their childhood. Everyone enjoyed bluegrass music, drinks, gourmet desserts, coffee, and even s’mores! Stephen’s parents also surprised the couple with a thoughtful photo slideshow containing memories from each of their childhoods and dating relationship.

In the morning, the bridal party made their preparations at the Biltmore Forest Country Club, where the reception would also be held later that night. This venue was absolutely amazing to film. Not only does it offer beautiful locker rooms, lounges, and dining rooms, but the golf course also has the most breathtaking view of the mountains. It’s easy to see why Kristen and Stephen chose this as the site where their special day would unfold! After an emotional letter exchange, they headed outside for their first look. Needless to say, it was the most romantic one we have ever filmed. Kristen glided down the clubhouse path as Stephen waited on the green. With a red rose in hand, he turned around and saw his bride for the first time that day. The two just melted into each other’s arms, and then Stephen was off to get another surprise he had planned for Kristen - french fries! What’s better than a groom who surprises his bride-to-be with a plate of french fries? All weekend long we saw examples of how Stephen is the very definition of a gentleman… giving Kristen his jacket when it was cold, helping her push the chair in closer to the table, writing a long and passionate letter pouring out all his feelings for her, and of course the red rose and fries! And he didn’t just pull out all the stops for the wedding - the maid of honor attested to how often Stephen sends Kristen flowers in Raleigh where they live… so often that he probably keeps the flower business there alive! And as Stephen’s best man, Cooper mentioned during his toast, Kristen is perfect for Stephen because she is just as committed and dedicated to him as he is to her. We just adore the way they look at one another…TRUE LOVE!

The ceremony took place at Graham Chapel in Montreat, where Billy Graham and his wife Ruth were also married in 1943. The combination of chestnut wood accents and Gothic stone walls made it an epic space for Kristen and Stephen to share their vows. The pastor gave a moving sermon on what loves means in a marriage and family, and the congregation shared prayers, hymns and gospel readings in a powerful display of everything Kristen and Stephen value in their lives together.

The evening continued back at the BFCC. Guests enjoyed cocktails outside overlooking the mountain sunset, then had dinner inside the elegant dining hall, which was decorated with old books and Harry Potter-themed table signs. The hall really did look like Hogwarts, and Cooper even joked that he saw Hermione Granger crying because Stephen was no longer a bachelor! After cutting cake at their dessert table, Kristen and Stephen returned outside for their first dance and parent dances under the stars. Then their awesome band Hot Sauce took the stage and got the party started, performing an energetic show that kept everyone on the dance floor all night. Stephen’s dad’s band, Night Train also performed a set, where they sang a special song for the couple, followed by Stephen and Cooper taking the stage to perform a sweet song Stephen wrote for Kristen. Yet another way this groom is absolutely the most romantic! The night ended with sparklers and a Harry Potter-themed golf cart exit. Definitely one of the most fun receptions ever, and the perfect ending to a spectacular wedding day full of love and heartfelt memories everywhere you looked!

Kristen and Stephen, your wedding made our hearts sing! It was by far one of the most beautiful, stylish and fun celebrations we have ever seen, and it was an honor to capture the connection you have to one another. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of it all, and we wish you all the best in your marriage! Cheers to you both!
